IABM launches regional councils in key territories

IABM has launched its regional councils initiative to provide local and regional support for its members. The first phase of the project will see regional councils established in Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe. The first regional council meeting will be held in Singapore during the BroadcastAsia 2015 Show on 2 June. Meanwhile, consultant Jennie Evans has been invited to lead the UK initiative.

The aim of the IABM regional councils is to give members in their own region a voice, and bring the issues of the broadcast and media technology industry to a wider audience. The councils will also provide the association with a strong presence in each region, creating a forum for discussion and debate on issues relevant to local markets and activities.

Peter White, chief executive, IABM, said: “This initiative shows our commitment to our members worldwide. The councils will be the voice of the IABM in the region, and disseminate information and knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity to provide advocacy to our members where they are, providing collective representation, market intelligence and a voice in the industry.”

The IABM has asked Jennie Evans to establish the new UK council. She is a well-known consultant and communicator with 25 years of industry knowledge. “This is an opportunity to focus on the issues that affect all UK members – the smallest as well as the largest – and to create a strong voice,” Evans said. “I am excited by the challenge, and I am looking forward to leading the establishment of the UK Regional Council as soon as possible.”
