IBC 2024: IHSE JPEG XS Extender for superior image quality with low bandwidth requirement

IHSE launched the world’s first KVM extender with JPEG XS technology. Developed in collaboration with the inventors of mp3 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, the JPEG XS codec enables an extremely high compression ratio with visually lossless image display.

Cost benefits through low bandwidth requirement

KVM extenders deploying the innovative JPEG XS codec deliver virtually delay-free, high-resolution video signals with minimal bandwidth requirement. Image quality is extremely high, free of video artifacts and frame drops. The low bandwidth overhead reduces energy and cooling requirements, resulting in lower CO2 emissions and significant cost savings.

High-resolution video transmission over 1G bandwidth

IHSE offers the new JPEG XS extenders as DisplayPort1.2 and HDMI2.0 models for 1G bandwidth network systems. In addition to the video/audio stream, the extenders transmit keyboard and mouse commands and are compatible with classic Draco vario extenders. Further variants for 3G bandwidth systems are to follow in the future.

The 1G variants enable video resolutions of 4K60 and 5K60 (1440p). Other computer signals such as USB 2.0 can be transmitted in the same data stream with the addition of add-on modules. All existing add-on modules are suitable for use with the new JPEG XS extenders.

Upgrade option for existing Draco ultra installations

IHSE is inviting users of existing Draco ultra extender solutions to upgrade their HDMI and DP extenders to the new JPEG XS platform via a firmware upgrade.

The JPEG XS extenders are designed to work with Draco tera KVM matrices. For maximum reliability, all variants in the series are also available with an additional redundant data path.

Experience the JPEG XS extenders in live operation at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam from September 13 to 16 at stand 7.A23.
