IBC2023: Evertz to unveil new tools for live production workflows

Evertz is set to show Vista Bravo, a Studer Vista mixing console for Bravo Studio, at IBC2023. Since acquiring Studer in 2021, Evertz has integrated the brand’s Vista digital mixing consoles into its own Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) platform. These consoles now support SMPTE ST2110, making them an important addition to Evertz’ live production workflows.

The introduction of Vista Bravo also adds a new dimension to Evertz’ DreamCatcher Bravo Studio
by providing virtual access to a full mixing console featuring all the enhanced audio capabilities for which Studer is known.

Another innovation to the Studer Vista range is the expanded Vista control using the Evertz Vue Intelligent User Interface. Now offering over 2,000 bidirectional controls, the combination of Vista and Vue has created a new tool for multiple small production suites and remote productions.

“The amalgamation of Vue and Vista is remarkable,” says Paul Shorter, product manager for Studer-Evertz Audio Solutions. “Its ease of use has been a paramount focus for the Vue interface, while retaining the power and flexibility of the Vista’s controls. The team have been very successful in achieving this. From the simple operation of the EQ and Dynamics screens to the comprehensive bussing structures, and now with the addition of tactile faders, Vue and Vista together make for a phenomenal pairing.”

Shorter adds that introducing Vista Bravo, together with Vue, pulls Studer’s audio capabilities into the Bravo Production suite ecosystem with Magnum-OS at its heart.

“For IBC2023, we are continuing to leverage the technologies and expertise of Evertz and Studer to bring to market innovative solutions to elevate our customers workflows and processes,” he says. “In fact, Video PFL is a direct result of knowledge sharing between video and audio and provides an effective solution for audio production engineers.”

New to the Studer Vista console range is the Video PFL (Pre-Fade-Listen) feature that maximises the power of Evertz’ Magnum-OS orchestration, monitoring and analysis software. With Video PFL, audio operators can select an input to pre-fade while listening to the audio and seeing the accompanying video for that channel on the multiviewer in the audio control room. By allowing the video to follow the audio, Evertz gives engineers a visual representation of the audio on the PFL, thus ensuring that the right source is always selected.

Alongside its live media production solutions for audio, Evertz will also show other developments to Bravo Studio. These include the Highlight Factory, where clips and stories are automatically created using AI technology, and published to Ease Live where users can pick their own highlights. The Highlight Factory is an additional co-pilot for Bravo Studio that uses advanced data-driven features to help automate and simplify production workflows and give small creative teams of all skill levels high-quality and consistency throughout the production.

“Bravo Studio is proving to be a game changer, particularly for events that include live sports, local news, esports, entertainment, corporate and government,” says Mo Goyal, senior director of international business development at Evertz. “Bravo Studio was designed for content creators to tell more stories from live events such as sports. We are seeing a change in consumers in terms of how they watch live events. They want the freedom to choose a feed (eg of a particular player) to watch than the traditional broadcast. The audience may want to watch non-mainstream events or league in broadcast quality. Bravo Studio enables all of this and more.”
