IBC2024: RT Software and Canon to collaborate on real-time VR graphics demo
RT Software and Canon are set to collaborate at IBC2024. Visitors to RT Software’s stand will be able to witness a live real-time virtual reality graphics demonstration.
RT Software will be using its Swift Studio package to render 3D Unreal Engine graphic objects and superimpose them on the live feed coming from the Canon CR-N500 PTZ camera. Visitors to the stand will be able experience first hand how the graphics interact with real world presenters.
The system will include full pan, zoom, tilt control of the Canon CR-N500 PTZ camera using the Canon RC-IP100 PTZ controller with pre-set camera movements being triggered from within the graphics themselves.
From the graphics playout side, RT Software will be including its Swift Live browser-based control surface. This reconfigurable user interface allows different studios or individual shows to set up specific layouts tailored to their differing styles of operation. Plus, being browser based, there is a lower cost of ownership as the user interface can be run from any suitable PC with a Chrome browser.
Mike Fredriksen, RT Software commercial director said: “We’ve enjoyed working on the integration with Canon, and this collaboration cements our relationship. It’s great to be able to showcase our products together in this way and hope our customers can come and learn by being able to see how easy it is to build cost-effective augmented reality systems by visiting our stand.
“Although we compete head-to-head with the biggest names in broadcast graphics, we also make sure we always have a focus on cost-effective solutions. RT Software and Canon are both able to support the demonstrated configuration with both NDI as well as SDI. This aligns very neatly with our NDI strategy where we bundle NDI licences at no cost for all our systems.”
Matthew Koshy, product marketing specialist at Canon Europe, commented: “This collaboration with RT Software is something which Canon is excited to announce. Showcasing this partnership at IBC2024 is also going to be the perfect platform for visitors to come and see the latest step in AR and PTZ technology.”
