EVS will launch Tactiq, its next-generation modular control room interface, at IBC2025.
This marks the first public showcase of EVS’s wider Flexible Control Room (FCR) solution, introducing a software-defined approach to live production, and empowering broadcasters to scale, automate and customise their workflows with unprecedented flexibility.
RTBF, Belgium’s French-speaking public broadcaster, will be the first to fully deploy FCR and Tactiq at its new Media Square facility, a state-of-the-art all-IP production hub set to open in 2026.
With Tactiq, production workspaces are no longer restricted by task-specific hardware. By decoupling the user interface from backend systems, Tactiq abstracts complexity and brings unified control of all key production elements– including video, audio, graphics, and lighting – into one intuitive and modular interface.
This software-defined approach gives production teams unmatched operational flexibility. Any workstation can be assigned any task, operated via touchscreen or physical controller. Each operator position becomes multifunctional, enhancing collaboration, maximising team efficiency, and enabling more flexible workflows.
Designed with interoperability at its core, Tactiq integrates with EVS’s live production ecosystem and supports a wide range of third-party tools, ensuring a consistent, unified experience throughout the entire production pipeline. It also supports rapid scalability, making it easy to onboard new operators, reassign responsibilities, or adapt control room layouts to meet evolving live production demands.

Tactiq’s intuitive interface is built for operators of all experience levels, enabling fast onboarding, smooth transitions between roles, and confident production management for both live and pre-recorded shows.
To further optimise operations, Tactiq introduces rundown-based automation, streamlining repetitive tasks while preserving the ability for manual intervention when needed. This hybrid model reduces operational errors and ensures consistent output, even under pressure in live productions.
Tactiq sits on top of a broader transformation: EVS’s Flexible Control Room (FCR). The FCR introduces a software-defined environment that replaces traditional fixed control rooms with agile, reconfigurable workspaces tailored to modern production needs.
A key component of FCR is the Production Resource Manager, which identifies and manages system resources, operator roles and equipment configurations during live production. This capability streamlines setup and coordination, making future productions significantly more intuitive and efficient for both engineers and operators.
Built on open, interoperable technology and supporting both IP and legacy workflows, FCR aligns with EBU’s Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) concept for modern, software-defined production infrastructures.

RTBF, Belgium’s French-speaking public broadcaster, is pioneering this new approach. Following the success of its Control Room 42 initiative, RTBF partnered with EVS to develop and deploy the first full-scale FCR at its upcoming Media Square facility.
This facility will support hundreds of trained users, all operating within a fully software-defined, reconfigurable environment designed around flexibility and future-proof performance.
