Inter Miami partners with Grabyo for Twitch Stream Aid 2020 broadcast

While Major League Soccer (MLS) continues to practice social distancing, Inter Miami CF partnered with Grabyo to remotely broadcast live to Twitch’s Stream Aid 2020. The 12 hour long event brought together the worlds of gaming, music, and sports to benefit the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Using Grabyo’s cloud-based live production platform, Grabyo Producer, Inter Miami players Julián Carranza, Lewis Morgan, Lee Nguyen and Rodolfo Pizarro were able to participate in a 70 minute live broadcast from the safety of their own homes.

Inter Miami also used Grabyo’s live clipping product to share goals, highlights, and key moments to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to engage fans across platforms in real time and direct them to the Twitch broadcast.

Narrated by Fernando Palomo, the official voice of EA Sports FIFA and a seasoned soccer analyst for ESPN, Inter Miami used Grabyo to create a unique eSports experience optimised for Twitch. The broadcast featured video from all five participants, with live graphics and animations promoting donations for the World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response.

Carranza and Pizarro played together as “Team RosaNegra,” while Morgan and Nguyen made up “Team Heron White.” The mini-tournament featured individual matchups before Pizarro was eventually crowned champion.

London based cloud-video platform Grabyo has recently introduced support for Twitch, enabling users to bring in multiple live channels at 1080p 60fps, add remote commentary, graphics, and publish live and VOD to multiple social and digital destinations alongside websites and mobile apps.

Jean Manuel Jiminez, VP content, digital and broadcast, Inter Miami CF said: “We are delighted Inter Miami CF was able to participate in Twitch Stream Aid. Despite practicing social distancing, partnering with Grabyo enabled us to produce a professional, high quality Twitch broadcast with our players from the safety of their homes. Technology partnerships such as this are crucial to us maintaining a relationship with our fans.”

Mike Kelley, president Americas, Grabyo, said: “We are pleased to have played a part in ensuring Inter Miami could participate in Stream Aid 2020 on Twitch. This was a fantastic example of delivering a high-quality live broadcast entirely remotely through Grabyo. At this difficult time, there is an increased reliance on distributed video workflows; there is a real need to ensure teams, leagues, and broadcasters can continue to deliver high-quality content both live and real time to digital audiences.”
