Leader Electronics has expanded the feature set of its Zen Series SDI/IP range of waveform monitors and rasterisers. As well as enhanced IP test and measurement capabilities, the newly introduced version 6.5 software adds extra capabilities that SDI-based customers have been requesting. Among these are additions to the vectorscope toolset which is now equipped to display a colour bar scale and an HDR transfer characteristic.

Version 6.5 software can be downloaded free-of-charge from the support section of the Leader website.

First introduced during Leader’s 65th anniversary year in 2018, Zen Series test instruments are designed for use in production studios, OB vehicles, post facilities, presentation suites and master control rooms. It includes the in-depth tools needed by technicians plus Leader’s Cinezone and Cinelite which are familiar to many camera crews, editors and colourists. The series comprises five instruments.

The LV5300 and LV5350 are 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI waveform monitors, each complete with a front panel display screen and designed for standalone, desktop or rack-mounted operation. The LV7300 offers similar features to the LV5300 and LV5350 in a 1U half-rack width rasterizer for use with external monitors.
The flagship LV5600 is a mains-powered SDI/IP waveform monitor in a half-rack width 3U desktop chassis with a touchscreen front panel display. It provides all the facilities needed to monitor UHD/HD/SD SDI as well as video-over-IP signals seamlessly in a hybrid operating environment. The LV7600 is 1U full-rack-width rasteriser with similar features to the LV5600.

Leader’s LV5600 and LV7600 rasteriser running Version 6.5 software have both successfully participated in the recent JT-NM Tested Program which continues to give broadcasters insight into how vendor equipment conforms to specific SMPTE standards, AMWA NMOS specifications and selected real-world test and measurement scenarios.
