Lions captain Sam Warburton joins BT Sport rugby presentation team
Welsh and British & Irish Lions star Sam Warburton has been unveiled as BT Sport’s latest signing following the announcement of his retirement from rugby in July.
The former Cardiff Blues player has signed up to join BT Sport’s expert team alongside Lawrence Dallaglio, Ben Kay, Austin Healey, Ugo Monye and Brian O’Driscoll.
Warburton will give viewers expert analysis in BT Sport’s coverage of the Heineken Champions Cup which returns to our screens on 12th October. He will make his first appearance on BT Sport’s weekly rugby show — Rugby Tonight, airing on 29th August on BT Sport 1 at 8pm.

Warburton remained loyal to his hometown team, Cardiff Blues, throughout his entire professional career, making his debut in April 2009. Following his debut for senior Wales national rugby in 2009, Warburton went on to lead his country for a record 49 times. Warburton will go down in history as one of the most successful British & Irish Lions captains of all time.
He captained the Lions on two tours as he led his men to Australia in 2013, then again to New Zealand just last year. Under his leadership the Lions claimed their first test series victory in 16 years.
BT Sport is the home of the Heineken Champions Cup with the first game to be shown on BT Sport on 12th October as Leinster Rugby face the sting of the Wasps in Dublin. BT Sport will show ten live Heineken Champions Cup games across a European group stage weekend, as well as a live highlights show every Sunday evening at 5.30pm with Craig Doyle, Lawrence Dallaglio and Brian O’Driscoll. Viewers can also look forward to the return of Rugby Tonight hosted by Ugo Monye and Sarra Elgin on Wednesday evenings at 8pm.
