Mathias Barbera joins Gravity Media as business development manager

Gravity Media has appointed Mathias Barbera as business development manager. He will be responsible for developing the company’s sales and client experience in continental Europe, with a strong focus on the French market.

Prior to joining Gravity Media, Barbera owned MBMC, a communications agency delivering consultancy, press relations and lobbying to the sports industry. There, his portfolio included the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the French Handball Federation and tennis player Lucas Pouille.

With over 20 years of communications experience, Barbera’s other career highlights include managing the global communications and public affairs strategy of UEFA Euro 2016 for official event partner Coca-Cola and working as head of content at the FIA. He also spent a decade as head of press relations at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ed Tischler, Gravity Media’s managing director for EMEA, said: “Our plans for growth in Europe are unashamedly ambitious, so Mathias joins us at the perfect time. His experience working with some of the world’s most exciting sporting and entertainment organisations makes him a perfect fit for our business, and we look forward to welcoming him to the team.”

Solène Zavagno, general manager of Gravity Media in France, commented: “Mathias’ knowledge and passion for European sport is unparalleled. We can’t wait to put his expertise to work as we grow Gravity Media in France.”

Barbera commented: “This feels like a great time to start a new challenge with Gravity Media. I’m happy to be working with the senior leadership team to help deliver a top-tier experience for existing clients, as well as developing and growing the business in Europe.”
