MediaCityUK gets outdoor screen for events
Salford Council has given the green light to the owners and developers of MediaCityUK, The Peel Group, to install a double-sided outdoor screen on the piazza at the 36-acre development on Salford Quays.
The screen, which will measure 4.608m by 6.912m will be situated in-between two of the six lighting columns that are positioned in the centre of the MediaCityUK piazza. The piazza is divided into two sections – The Green park area and The Stage hard-standing zone, which has already hosted a range of high-profile events.
Stephen Wild, managing director of MediaCityUK, said: “We are delighted that Salford City Council has approved our plans for an outdoor screen at the heart of MediaCityUK. We are now exploring a number of options to ensure a wide variety of content is displayed on the screen to appeal to the diverse needs of visitors, residents and workers”.
A range of potential content providers includes the BBC, the University of Salford and ITV, as well as visiting event companies organising activities within the outdoor space or in the Open Centre.
It is anticipated the screen will be in place by spring 2012. Handy…
