MWC 2023: Ateme to showcase 5G immersive video

Ateme is set to demonstrate video-delivery solutions that enable communication service providers (CSPs), broadcasters and content providers to increase profitability at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Visitors to the Ateme stand will see solutions to increase their reach, improve network monetisation, and enable new immersive and high-quality user experiences while also reducing power consumption.

Exhibiting on stand 5G-18 from 27 February to 2 March, Ateme will showcase a solution for monetising high-profile sports events, thanks to its breakthrough achievement of targeted advertising in low latency. Visitors to the Ateme stand will be able to see the world’s first demonstration of low-latency targeted advertising based on a 5G Mobile-access Edge Computing (MEC) platform combining both video compression and delivery.

Ateme will also demonstrate an innovative metaverse virtual lounge experience for social interaction while watching live events together in a virtual space, in low latency on any screen. The Virtual Lounge is a combination of augmented reality and virtual reality, with avatars interacting from different locations in the same virtual space.

In addition, Ateme will demonstrate highly efficient end-to-end low-latency streaming over 5G using hybrid multicast and unicast delivery to televisions and mobile phones.

“The video industry is on the brink of a new revolution,” commented Williams Tovar, 5G media streaming solutions director at Ateme. “It is already equipped to face the anytime, anywhere, any screen paradigm. The next challenge will be to beat the competition for attention coming from gaming and social media. We are excited to be showcasing how we are using 5G and the metaverse to help the industry meet this new challenge, while also making streaming more efficient – so that ultimately, service and content providers can increase profitability.”
