n-tv Germany to build new HbbTV app with 3SS

3 Screen Solutions (3SS) has been appointed by German news channel n-tv to develop its new app, writes Chris Cope. After a competitive selection process, 3 Screen Solutions was selected to design the new n-tv application end-to-end, embracing the increasingly prevalent HbbTV technology standard, and to implement the new app for usage on multiple consumer devices.

HbbTV is increasingly being embraced by content owners because this standard enables interactivity, such as via a red button. By adopting HbbTV, broadcasters are helping viewers to enter a smart TV web-connected environment on their devices, enhancing the viewer experience by making complementary content readily available. The result is that consumers have the opportunity to engage with the content owner’s brand for more time, on more screens, thereby encouraging viewer loyalty.
