NAB 2019: Black News Channel leverages Vizrt’s storytelling capabilities

At the 2019 NAB Show, Vizrt (Booth SL3316) announced that the Black News Channel (BNC) has chosen a wide range of Vizrt products for its launch later this year.

Headquartered in Tallahassee, FL, Black News Channel will be a unique, multi-platform news and information channel created for African Americans, subscription television’s most dynamic, high-growth, and loyal consumers.

“Our aim at Vizrt is to provide customers with tools that empower stories that engage and impact societies. This mission goes very much in line with BNC´s and we are excited to be a cornerstone of the launch of this new network,” said Daniel Nergard, President of Vizrt Americas. “We look forward to a successful implementation, the launch and seeing the results of a highly collaborative focus on quality and inspired storytelling.”

Black News Channel will operate as a 24/7 news outlet, serving an estimated 33 million households in the top African American markets, including New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. BNC was created to give voice to the varied experiences, issues, points of view, and priorities that matter to African Americans.

Vizrt is providing a complete storytelling workflow, enabling BNC to deliver highly responsive, reliable and relevant coverage by and for African Americans.

“We knew we could trust Vizrt solutions for the reliability, ease of use and unparalleled creativity that we will need,” said J.C. Watts, Jr., BNC’s co-founder and chairman. “Vizrt’s innovation is backed by software and hardware that will give us the most advanced capabilities and futureproof set up to take us from launch well into the future.”

With Vizrt’s end-to-end news workflow, BNC can produce and distribute the most imaginative news and informational programming nimbly and efficiently, through an integrated broadcasting package that includes: Viz Pilot, Viz Trio, Viz World, Viz Social TV, Viz Multichannel, Viz Engine, Viz Virtual Studio, Viz Multiplay, and Viz One solutions.

The new independent network is the brainchild of J.C. Watts, Jr., former congressman from Oklahoma, celebrated athlete, and broadcast and cable news veteran, and cable television’s Bob Brillante, BNC’s co-founder and CEO. They share a vision to bring informational, inspiring and empowering programming to the African American audience and build bridges that connect the many diverse cultures of the nation.
