NAB 2019: Slomo.TV Ripley Plus Delivers 8-Channel Record within Replay Controller

At NAB 2019, Slomo.TV (Booth SL3829) will demonstrate the world’s smallest video broadcast grade replay server and videoReferee system Ripley Plus. Fully contained within the replay controller,  the new Ripley Plus supports a configuration of six record channels, two playout channels, and search on all six record channels. It can also work as an eight-channel video referee judging system that meets the minimum FIFA requirements for VAR.

Slomo.tv’s Ripley replay server meets the FIFA requirements to be used as a referee replay system.

“Introduced at last IBC, Ripley has got very warm reception in Europe as an affordable and effective solution for small scale broadcasters who strive for high production quality,” says Michael Gilman, CEO of Slomo.tv. “Now, we are introducing a new generation of this proven solution as the controller/server combo builds on the success of our Simple R and Jr. products. This opens up a whole new world of opportunities for anybody who wants a broadcast quality slow motion instant replay server for sports and video-judging applications.”

The new Ripley Plus provides simultaneous recording of six HD video inputs, playing two channels with transition effects and searching on all six recorded channels. The maximum capacity of the built-in SSD storage is now up to 133 hours of 100mbit HD video. Despite its ultra-compact form factor, Ripley Plus supports 2x-3x SuperMotion cameras.

As with its previous model, Ripley Plus server has LTC, RS-422 and GPIO connections for integration into professional broadcast environments. Another useful feature is the export of recorded video in native NLE systems file formats over a local network to NAS or to a hard disk connected via USB 3.0

A unique feature of “Ripley” is the presence of four SDHC standard memory card slots on the side panel. The cards can be used for export and import of video content, as well as for recording of incoming video signals in H.264 or AVC-Intra 50Mbit.

Like all slomo.tv VAR systems, videoReferee-R provides a built-in adjustable delay in displaying of a main camera and supports options such as SDI output for broadcasters, pitch-side monitoring in RRA and Vokkero intercom.

It has two graphics ports for the main interface and multi-viewer monitors. If there is only one monitor available, the MultiSkin function can easily switch between these modes. For easy integration within wider workflows, Ripley comes fitted with LTC input, an RS232/422 port as well as two In and two Out GPO interfaces.
