NEP Connect appoints David Rees as managing director

David Rees has been appointed managing director of NEP Connect. He brings more than two decades of global broadcast experience across live and pre-recorded linear, digital and OTT platforms in a career spanning Europe, MENA, Asia, South America and the US.

Rees has collaborated with many of the world’s premier sports federations and rightsholders, including Serie A, the Bundesliga, UEFA, the J League, Premiership Rugby and EPCR. Most recently, he served as head of outside broadcast at DAZN, where he led host broadcast strategy for the company’s expansion into emerging markets.

Rees will report to Arjan van Westerloo, EVP, NEP Europe and join the regional senior leadership team.

Westerloo said: “With this refreshed leadership team, we are strongly positioned to unlock new market opportunities, accelerate innovation, and elevate our service delivery in an increasingly dynamic and demanding media landscape. Our commitment remains unwavering: to provide the world-class service our clients expect from NEP. As our industry continues to evolve, seamless connectivity and resilient infrastructure have become more critical than ever for both NEP and our clients. With David at the helm of NEP Connect, we are exceptionally well placed to drive this forward and meet the growing demands of the market.”

Rees said: Having been a customer of NEP for many years, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join and lead NEP Connect through the next phase of growth; and I very much look forward to meeting and getting to know the team when I get started in March.”

Rees will succeed interim managing director Vince Russell, who has led the business through its recent transformation. Russell will remain with NEP Connect during the transition period to ensure a smooth and effective handover.
