Nine takes third Kayenne

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Australia’s Nine Network has taken delivery of its third Grass Valley Kayenne Video Production Center to support a refurbishment of its HD production studio in Sydney.

In 2011, Grass Valley engineers completed systems integration of Nine Network’s relocated Melbourne studios to a new facility in the Docklands district, providing system design and integration expertise to install a full complement of legacy and new third-party HD production equipment. The Melbourne project included the installation of two 2.5 M/E Kayenne systems inside dual HD control rooms.

The latest Kayenne switcher ordered features a large 3.5 M/E frame and a 4 M/E Kayenne control panel and includes sophisticated multi-layered effects and DVE transitions, making it the Southern Hemisphere’s largest Kayenne platform in operation. It will be used for a variety of news, current affairs and entertainment programmes that go live to air from Nine Network’s Willoughby studios, or recorded for later transmission.

“We like the Kayenne because it’s the most flexible and complete production platform that enables our operators to produce the great looking shows that Nine has become known for,” said Geoff Sparke, Director of Broadcast Operations at Nine Network. “Among our competitors, this latest Kayenne is the largest system in our region and we plan to push it to the max.”

“We have seen a continued expansion of facilities within the Nine Network and we are proud to be supporting that growth with our technology,” said Jeff Rosica, Executive Vice President of Grass Valley. “The Kayenne Video Production Center offers all the features and functionality they need to produce some of the country’s most captivating (and highly rated) programs. The flexibility they have been enjoying in Melbourne thus far with the Kayenne has been astounding and they are well equipped to raise the production bar with programs produced in their Sydney studios.”
