NOA launches ProMedia Carbon option for MediaButler retranscoding engine

NOA Audio Solutions has launched  a ProMedia Carbon option  for its MediaButler retranscoding engine. The inclusion of ProMedia Carbon from Harmonic as an optional plug-in extension to MediaButler allows users of NOA’s mediARC archive management system to further rationalise complex multi-format workflows.

The MediaButler retranscoding engine automates the processing of diverse media formats, including both lossless open source formats such as HUFFYUV and ffv1, and proxy formats such as WMV. The addition of the ProMedia Carbon option, powered by Rhozet technology, increases the range of formats, allowing producers working with multiple production systems to request material from the archive independently and have it delivered to any platform in any of the supported formats.

Removing the need to oversee and co-ordinate different platforms, the MediaButler ProMedia Carbon plug-in lets operators monitor activity from within the mediARC workflow, where garbage collection of interim formats can be achieved more easily, saving operator time and expense.

“Our collaboration with Harmonic to make this option available for NOA customers means that we are able to provide yet another way of bringing simplicity and efficiency to complex production environments,” says Christophe Kummer, CEO of NOA Audio Solutions. “Any gains in time and cost a production can achieve in this way are precious, and can add up to a major business advantage in the long run.”
