Olympic Channel goes live with 2018 Boston Marathon stream

The Olympic Channel has provided live online coverage of the 122nd Boston Marathon on Monday 16 April. Coverage of the marathon was available in select countries in Europe and Asia, MENA and Australia and New Zealand at olympicchannel.com and its mobile apps for Android and iOS.

The world’s oldest annual marathon showcased a field of 30,000 runners tackling the historic 26.2-mile course in Boston, Massachusetts, including many of the sport’s elite marathoners and wheelchair racers.

The elite field features defending champions Geoffrey Kirui (KEN) and Olympian Edna Kiplagat (KEN). Several Olympians will challenge the incumbents including Lusapho April (RSA), Jessica Augusto (POR), Lemi Berhanu (ETH), Reid Coolsaet (CAN), Jessica Draskau-Petersson (DEN), Arne Gabius (GER), Eric Gillis (CAN), Olympic bronze medallist Deena Kastor (USA), Eunice Kirwa (BRN), Shalane Flanagan (USA), Molly Huddle (USA) and Desiree Linden (USA), Abdi Nageeye (NED), Kentaro Nakamoto (JPN), and two-time Olympic medallist Galen Rupp (USA).

In the wheelchair division, champions Marcel Hug (SUI), an eight-time Paralympic medallist, and Manuela Schar (SUI), a three-time Paralympic medallist, return along with four-time winner and 17-time Paralympic medallist Tatyana McFadden (USA) and 10-time winner and eight-time Paralympic medallist Ernst van Dyk  (RSA).
