Olympic Channel launches on Swisscom TV in Switzerland and Liechtenstein

With the countdown to the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games underway, the Olympic Channel, the global media platform of the International Olympic Committee, has announced that it is now available on Swisscom TV.

Available to customers with the Swisscom TV UHD Box across Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Olympic Channel app takes viewers up close and behind the scenes with their favourite sports and athletes all year round.

In addition to comprehensive coverage of Lausanne 2020, content on the Olympic Channel features inspiring athlete stories including the journey of the Swiss men’s ice hockey team at PyeongChang 2018 in Olympic Winter Tales and 2014 Olympian and freestyle skier Mirjam Jaeger exploring the local sports culture of Pyongyang in the documentary, Running in North Korea.

“We are thrilled to bring an Olympic Channel experience to Swisscom TV subscribers as we continue to expand the distribution of our global product,” said Mark Parkman, general manager of the IOC’s global Olympic Channel. “With Lausanne 2020 and Tokyo 2020 just around the corner, local viewers now have more options to discover our content about their favourite sports and engage with the Olympic Movement all year round.”

Offering unparalleled access to Olympic sports and athletes all year round, the subscription-free Olympic Channel streaming service launched worldwide following the Olympic Games Rio 2016.

Through strategic distribution partnerships with the IOC’s rights-holding broadcast partners and National Olympic Committees, the Olympic Channel is continuing to develop localised versions leading to more personalised experiences for Olympic fans around the world. These digital and linear distribution partnerships have resulted in an Olympic Channel presence in 160 territories complementing the global digital platform.
