Omnitek leads with 12G-SDI UHD test gear shipment

Omnitek has claimed a world first having shipped a number of pre-ordered UHD Ultra 4K Tool Box units with 12G-SDI test technology, to a broad spectrum of early adopters. This follows strong interest in the product since shipments of the 6G-SDI version began in August 2014.

The need for manufacturers, broadcasters, telcos and integrators to develop products, test new workflows and prove 4K concept designs have all contributed to the successful take up of the Omnitek UHD Ultra 4K Tool Box. It is designed to work across the entire delivery chain from camera manufacturers through programme production and via transmission and compression to displays.

Omnitek’s lead in high speed video data technology is initially being applied to handling 12G-SDI as a 4K/60 connection format, but the capability to process these speeds of data efficiently also has applications in high dynamic range (HDR), extended colour gamuts (Rec 2020), high frame rates (HFR) and 8K resolutions (UHD-2).
