OneFootball and 1190 Sports bring Brasileirão Serie A to international fans

OneFootball and 1190 Sports have agreed a new distribution partnership for the Brasileirão Serie A. The multi-territorial deal will bring live streamed matches from Campeonato Brasileiro (Brasileirão) to millions of OneFootball users in over 100 territories around the world, including France, the UK, Spain and south-east Asia, among others.

1190 Sports, a global company dedicated to the management and commercialisation of sports rights, currently holds international media rights to Brasileirão, which is considered among the world’s top ten leagues.

Featuring some of Brazil’s most recognisable clubs, including Atletico Mineiro, Flamengo, Palmeiras, Fluminense, Corinthians and many more, the deal will offer both paid and free content from Brasileirão to the OneFootball community.

This is the first time that OneFootball will offer live coverage of the Brazilian top-tier competition to its users worldwide, building on its extensive domestic streaming offer for fans in Brazil. Launched for the season opener on 10 April, the distribution agreement will run until the end of the 2023 season.

The deal includes rights to five live games per matchday. Coverage from Brasileirão Play, the official platform that broadcasts Serie A and B matches of the Brazilian Championship abroad, will be available to OneFootball users on a pay-per-view basis for €2.99 per match (or equivalent currency), giving fans access to 190 live matches per season. Games will be available on smartphone and tablet via the OneFootball app and the OneFootball website.

As well as a paid offer, fans can enjoy free on-demand highlights of all 380 matches each season and other video compilations, produced by Brasileirão Play. Video on-demand content will also be available via the OneFootball app and website, as well as its video distribution network, which includes over 110 publishing partners globally.

Earlier this year, OneFootball announced a PPV deal with NSports for two state championships, Campeonato Paranaense and Campeonato Catarinense, for Brazilian fans for both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. This was quickly followed by a partnership for the Campeonato Carioca State Championship, facilitated by Sportsview. OneFootball is also currently the exclusive broadcaster of the German Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga in Brazil, as well as 12 other international leagues, all free-to-view.

Nikolaus von Doetinchem, vice president OTT streaming & media rights, OneFootball, said: “Up until now, our streaming deals in Brazil have helped bring fans there closer to the teams and competitions they love. Now, we’re delighted that this new deal with Brasileirão Play will bring the Brazilian game to our fans all over the world for the first time. Our offer here is going from strength to strength and this deal is a landmark moment for us in helping to bring Brazilian football to a bigger global audience. We can’t wait for the season to kick off and are grateful to our partners at Brasileirão Play for making it possible.”

Hernán Donnari, 1190 Sports CEO & co-founder, said: “We are very happy to partner with OneFootball and to see that a must-have product such as the Brasileirão continues to expand its reach to new markets, audiences and platforms. There is no doubt that the global exposure provided by OneFootball’s network will bring the highest quality Brazilian football to a wider and more digitally-literate fans base, allowing the clubs and its players to showcase its magic on an even bigger stage.”
