Pink TV selects Sony to optimise remote news production

Serbian commercial broadcaster Pink TV has selected Sony to optimise its news production, with the purchase of XDCam air cloud-based workflow service licenses.

The Sony XDCam air will now provide Pink TV with a fast and flexible bridge for content sent between the broadcasters field-based camcorders and its broadcast studio network, optimising remote production.

With the support of in-built wireless capability, XDCam air will provide seamless integration with Pink TV’s existing Sony PXW-X200 and PXW-Z280 camcorders, with newsroom planning data able to be sent directly to any connected camera with acquired footage tagged for easy location. This ensures Pink TV’s news production team is able to retrieve files and images back in the studio as quickly as possible.

Vladimir Koh, chief technology officer at Pink TV, commented: “We selected Sony’s XDCam air solution to support our remote news production, not only for its high quality of technology, but also because of the company’s unrivalled expertise and consultancy.

“Sony has a proven track record in providing news production technology and XDCam air will make life easier for our news production operators, ensuring no important data is lost. We’re particularly pleased that this technology will integrate seamlessly with our existing Sony camcorders, allowing us to get files back to the studio quickly.”

Hiroshi Kajita, head of media solutions marketing at Sony Professional Solutions Europe, added: “At Sony, we always listen and work closely with our customers and partners to provide solutions that allow them to adapt to the evolving demands of the broadcast industry. In a world governed by COVID-19, the demand for solutions that can satisfy today’s internet-first news audiences has never been stronger, and the XDCam air’s in-built wireless technology will allow Pink TV to achieve this, even in a poor connectivity context.”
