Pitch invasion knocks out Antelope

Germany: Highlighting the occasional perils of live production, a pitch invasion at The Frankfurt Arena during a Bundesliga test for Sportcast saw the first of LMC’s new Antelope II super slo-mo cameras – serial number 001 – smashed to the ground and destroyed.

500 supporters poured onto the pitch at one point during the Frankfurt vs Cologne game, and one in particular made a beeline for the Phantom 641-based Antelope II. “It was pure chaos,” said Christian Schreiber, Head of Technology at LMC. “He simply knocked it over…my heart missed a beat! As a developer, it’s cruel to see something like that.”

Happily, however, the miscreant was stupid enough to look directly into the camera lens just before the incident, and was first captured in suitably glorious super slo-mo, before later being identified from the pictures and being rather more physically captured by the Frankfurt police that same night.
