Pixellot and PlayOn! Sports roll out AI-automated sports production to thousands of US high schools
PlayOn! Sports and Pixellot have signed a seven-year extension of their partnership to bring automated sports production to US high school sports. Strong interest and adoption of the technology among high schools led both companies to agree that increasing their partnership would create a significant opportunity for the entire market, the companies said.
Pixellot, founded in 2013, is a provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-based automated production for the semi-professional market. The company developed an end to end solution that automatically produces, enriches and distributes sports and video highlights from any field or court to any screen.
PlayOn! Sports has partnered with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and individual State Associations to create the NFHS Network, an aggregated video streaming destination for high school sports. PlayOn! Sports also works with high schools throughout the US to help schools broadcast their events on the NFHS Network.
The partnership, which began in 2017, has led to more than 1,500 Pixellot solutions installed across the country producing 100,000 live games – reaching 25,000 of live hours per month – with zero need for human intervention. The extended agreement anticipates more than 20,000 installations over the next few years, with a goal of more than one million live events broadcast per year.
Alon Werber, CEO of Pixellot, remarked: “We’re pleased to continue our successful relationship with PlayOn! Sports and the NFHS Network. This long term contract will enable thousands of high schools to produce sports content at scale, through the network. We’ve worked diligently on our automated production solution to ensure an engaging and professional viewing experience for kids, their parents and the entire community. We’ve added new algorithms suited for additional sports coverage including baseball and softball and we will continue to add more automation layers to enrich the viewing experience.”
“We knew our partnership with Pixellot would accelerate our efforts to provide comprehensive coverage of high school sports,” added David Rudolph, CEO at PlayOn! Sports. “Our relationship has exceeded every expectation and we look forward to bringing this solution to every high school in the US.”
