Plazamedia produces knockout World Boxing Super Series Final

On 25 September Plazamedia produced the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) Season II Cruiserweight Final at the ziegelei101 in Ismaning, Germany.

The knockout of a final hit screens on Saturday evening, with Lativia’s Mairis Briedis and Cuban IBF World Champion Yuniel Dorticos going head-to-head in the ring, culminating in Briedis delivering the winning blow and taking the Muhammad Ali trophy home.

The fight was broadcast live worldwide, including in the US and Canada on DAZN, in the UK on Sky Sports and in Germany on BILDplus.

In addition to the entire technical production, Plazamedia also handled the post production, the worldwide distribution of the broadcast signals via satellite, fibre and livestream, as well as the handling of all national and international media partners, archive and CMS services for the World Boxing Super Series and all media partners.

Commenting before the final took place, Jens Friedrichs, chairman of the management board at Plazamedia, said: “By staging this world-class boxing event in Germany in these extraordinary times marked by the effects of the pandemic, Plazamedia is sending out a signal of great importance for our production site.

“Thanks to our innovative and highly-modern infrastructure, the know-how of our excellent team and our comprehensive safety and hygiene measures, we can stage events of the highest standard for customers from a wide range of sectors and for all media platforms.”

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the boxing night was held with a strict safety and hygiene in place without an audience on site.

Leon Bunn, Denis Radovan and Sophie Alisch also featured on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series Season II Final, with Bunn from Frankfurt/Main making his debut, Cologne’s Radovan defending his IBF European Title, and Germany’s Alisch meeting Edina Kiss from Hungary on her way to the top.

Plazamedia was responsible for the complete technical production of the worldfeed with its studio and control room technology, as well as its new, IP-based broadcasting center in Ismaning.
