Rohde & Schwarz to showcase new Clipster Mastering Workstation
Premier transmitter, test and measurement and studio equipment manufacturer Rohde & Schwarz will showcase its Clipster mastering workstation as a Dolby Vision workflow partner of the conference, ‘Dolby Vision: Coloring the Future of Film and Television’, in New York City on May 23. The event will start at 6pm at W New York – Union Square, 201 Park Avenue South.
Dolby Vision is a high dynamic range (HDR) standard that optimises nature’s rich detail and vivid color to create a true-to-life viewing experience, just as the content creator intended. By fully leveraging the maximum potential of new cinema projection technology and new TVs’ display capabilities, Dolby Vision delivers high-dynamic-range (HDR) and wide-color-gamut content.
This event will feature panel discussions and presentations from content creators and postproduction professionals regarding new ways of working in HDR for TV and film. Top feature film and episodic TV producers will share insights from their experiences working in Dolby Vision.
“Dolby Vision: Coloring the Future of Film and Television” will include a reception to meet with Dolby Vision partners and explore their solutions including QC, color-grading systems, and HDR professional monitors.
“This is an ideal event to show off the benefits of Clipster for HDR,“ said Stephen Birdsong, Global Product Manager for Premium Content Solutions for Rohde & Schwarz. “As a mastering workstation, it sits at a vital stage of the post production process. A complete hardware and software finishing system, it manages all the tasks of a digital intermediate (DI) workflow in one box from capturing to mastering in several digital distribution formats. And it’s the only system in the world that can process uncompressed, multi-format file sequences in real time, even up to 4K. We’re thrilled to demonstrate what Clipster can do as part of a Dolby Vision production and post process.“
Current consumer video delivery and cinema standards are based on the limitations of previous technologies and require altering the original content before it can be reproduced for playback—dramatically reducing the range of colours, brightness, and contrast from that captured by modern cameras. Dolby Vision ensures creative teams that images will be reproduced faithfully on TVs, PCs, and mobile devices.
