RT Software announces channel branding migration package for GV’s Playout X

RT Software has released a new graphics migration package for Grass Valley Playout X, an advanced playout solution designed for highly dynamic and complex media environments. Powered by GV AMPP and offering flexible scalability and robust cloud-native architecture, Playout X from Grass Valley empowers users to manage linear, on-demand and streaming channels with precision, all while ensuring smooth integration across traditional and next-gen media workflows.

As a founding member of the GV Alliance and long-standing technology partner, RT Software has collaborated with Grass Valley on numerous tier-1 playout deployments. RT Software’s OEM version of its Swift Engine plays a pivotal role in providing top-tier graphics branding, as part of GV’s comprehensive playout solutions.

Many joint customers currently using GV’s ICE playout (as part of a GV Morpheus solution) are now exploring the transition to Playout X. In response, RT Software is providing confidence to them that its existing graphics editors, render engine, workflow tools and graphics projects will continue to be supported during the migration from ICE to Playout X.

Mike Fredriksen, RT Software’s commercial director, stated: “We greatly value our shared playout customers with Grass Valley, and over the years we’ve cultivated strong relationships with them. We’ve supported their creative and playout teams as their branding needs have evolved, and this initiative ensures we can continue this support for many more years.”

He added: “We want all our customers to feel confident that their workflows will remain unchanged when migrating to Playout X. Their investment in training on our Swift CG and Swift Engine graphics products will be preserved, which we believe is a compelling reason to retain Swift as part of their playout solution.

“We are always focused on reducing or eliminating costs for our customers, and to support them, we will offer temporary licences free of charge during the migration process. Additionally, we are available to assist any customer who needs help on how best to take advantage of new best practice approaches as they transition to an AMPP-based solution.”

The benefits of moving to Playout X are further enhanced by RT Software’s latest generation of browser-based products, such as Swift Live, which allows operators to manually control graphics. This complements the Playout X interface and can be easily deployed alongside it to add functionality. Other complementary products available via a browser-based interface include management tools such as Repository and DataServer.

Adam Marshall, chief product officer at Grass Valley, commented: “Partnering with RT Software on this migration path highlights our shared commitment to delivering seamless, future-ready playout solutions. By aligning our technologies, we’re enabling customers to transition to Playout X with minimal disruption while preserving the high-performance standards they rely on. RT Software’s proactive approach ensures our joint clients experience the best of both worlds: continuity in their workflows and access to next-generation capabilities.”

RT Software will be showcasing its solutions at the Grass Valley stand in Hall 9 at IBC2024, where the company will have a dedicated pod to demonstrate how its browser-based graphics control tools, integrated with GV AMPP, can enhance playout and other applications within the broadcast value chain. The underlying renderer, Swift Engine, is versatile and supports all broadcast formats and resolutions, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

Moreover, the Playout X demonstration area will feature Swift Engine rendering live graphics under the control of Playout X playlists, allowing visitors to witness first-hand the frame-accurate, reliable control and smooth on-air branding that RT Software’s technology delivers.
