RTV Slovenia deploys Bridge Technologies monitoring system
Slovenian national broadcaster RTV Slovenia has installed a monitoring system from Bridge Technologies for its DVB-T/T2, DVB-S/S2, and IP delivery chain. The system provided to RTV Slovenia includes a combination of VB120, VB252 and VB272 probes with ETR290 monitoring capability for analysis functionality and graphic presentation of complex live traffic over existing DVB delivery systems. The solution allows RTV Slovenia to extend its monitoring capabilities to the include future DVB-T2/S2 delivery platforms without making changes to the monitoring system.
“For a long time we tried to find a single-box probe which would be capable of monitoring all our delivery systems and which would be easy to integrate to our open-source upper-level monitoring system,” said Bojan Ramšak, head of the Development Department of OU Transmitters and Communications, RTV Slovenia’s technical division. “We selected Bridge Technologies’ VB120 modular solution fitted with additional blades for DVB-T and DVB-S on-air monitoring. The system’s visual presentation of irregularities to our NOC crew means we discover problems immediately and before our viewers. It’s a great solution not only for our head-end IP output monitoring and analysis but also for checking the correctness of our other two delivery platforms.”
RTV Slovenia began operating the country’s first DVB-T multiplex in 2007-2008.and opened its new IP head-end to encode and deliver content to the distribution and broadcast networks. In addition to IP and satellite delivery, viewers are able to receive RTV’s channels via IPTV and cable operators.
“RTV Slovenia has taken an end-to-end approach to quality assurance in this multi-faceted delivery structure, and by choosing Bridge Technologies the broadcaster has been able to streamline and simplify the monitoring of every part of the operation, within a single unified environment,” said Simen Frostad, chairman of Bridge Technologies.
