Seltec takes ZAO Smart Telecaster range to Austria

Japan-based Soliton Systems, which opened its European office at the beginning of 2016, is continuing to expand its reseller base within Europe. Having recently signed resellers in UK, Spain and Italy, Soliton has appointed Seltec to resell products within the Austrian and Swiss market.

Seltec is a TV production company specialising in live events, especially around sports, and having evaluated the ZAO product they were so impressed that they decided to adapt their business model to resell the Soliton Smart Telecaster range of products to other broadcasters and TV production companies within the Austrian territory.

Soliton Systems manufactures the Smart-telecaster ZAO product, a mobile HEVC transmitter for streaming live broadcasts direct from cameras’ over multiple mobile 3G or 4G networks. Ideal for news and sports environments, the ZAO product has been claimed to be the first global mobile H.265 hardware-based transmitter that can either be mounted on the camera, or reside in a backpack, and has been used on motorbikes, cars, helicopters and gyrocopters without the need for RF base stations or satellite systems.

“We have a huge amount of experience with the challenges and expense of video streaming for live broadcasts” said Peter Gridling, Managing Director of Seltec. “When we used the ZAO we couldn’t believe how reliable the quality was, even when the bandwidth dropped, especially as it can in the Austrian mountains!”.

The ZAO product uniqueness is its H265 encoding, coupled with its approach to bonding multiple 4G carriers. It allows full video HD streaming with low latency, something that is not possible with traditional H264 bonding systems.
