SGL to showcase new integration with EVS, Sony Media Backbone

On display at IBC 2014, SGL’s FlashNet content management solution is designed to integrate seamlessly with NRCS, MAM, or automation control systems to improve workflow efficiency without intruding on the users’ familiar desktop. With the increasing move to archiving as a central element of the media and data workflow, SGL will be featuring integration with Sony Media Backbone, EVS fast turnaround sports production, and possible disaster recovery options.

EVS and SGL collaborative workflow
This new collaboration is designed to streamline the workflow in fast turnaround sports and events production. By integrating FlashNet as part of the EVS sports highlights capture process, an open format copy is made on LTO. As a transportable format, this media is available instantly to the wider production team – helping to improve creativity and maximise return on investment during and after the event. FlashNet will be integrated with an EVS server on the SGL booth 7.J15a.

Sony Media Backbone integration
The adoption by broadcasters and post producers of Sony’s Media Backbone is in response to the desire to make an existing workflow run faster by including an archive as a key element of the process. SGL has announced integration with the Media Backbone in an effort to increase productivity, raise creativity, and drive down cost.

New disaster recovery workflows
With DR systems becoming increasingly important, the SGL team will be on hand to discuss a number of FlashNet DR options, including a recent implementation for a major European broadcaster. With a daily vehicle transfer of physical media over almost 500 km, its archive process has been streamlined by SGL using automatic mirroring to synchronise databases and content. By encouraging the client to take a fresh look at its archive process, SGL has been able to drive down costs and to increase the efficiency of the DR process.

SGL staff will also be on hand to discuss its involvement with the integration between CATDv Media Asset Management, Glookast file management and Avid Web Services
