Singapore 2021 Global Esports Games forms organising committee
Following the announcement by the Global Esports Federation of the Singapore 2021 Global Esports Games (GEG), the Singapore Esports Association (SGEA) has commenced formation of the GEG Organising Committee.
The Organising Committee (OC) will consist of the Singapore Esports Association, Razer and Thomson X and will be responsible for the successful execution of the inaugural Global Esports Games, GEFcon and GEFestival in December 2021, working hand in hand with the Global Esports Federation.
The OC will also enter a consultancy partnership with IMG, a global leader in sports, fashion, media, and events. IMG will work across a range of areas including production of 30 hours of live content, event management, marketing, media distribution and sponsorship rights.
SGEA has also announced that the OC will be led by Her Excellency, Ms Ng Shin Ein, the Singapore’s non-resident ambassador to Hungary and a venture capital entrepreneur. She brings with her a blend of private sector and diplomatic experience. She also serves on the boards of listed companies spanning technology, retail, telecommunications and real estate.
“Hosting the inaugural Global Esports Games in Singapore is an opportunity that will shape the course of esports in the region whilst establishing and cementing Singapore’s place in the esports space,” commented Ms Ng Shin Ein, chairperson of the Global Esports Games Organising Committee.
“SGEA is honoured to be part of the organising committee alongside capable individuals and will take precautionary steps to ensure that all participants and fans are safe during the GEG and in compliance to the prevailing pandemic advisory in Singapore. We continue to stand in unity with other members of the Global Esports Federation as we progress into the new normal,” added Ng Chong Geng, president of Singapore Esports Association.
“The Global Esports Games is our annual flagship event property and showcase for esports athletes and our dynamic community to shine. Our entire #worldconnected community is looking forward to standing together at the first GEG in Singapore, making new friends, cheering new heroes, and Global Esports Games Champions from around the world,” remarked GEF chief executive officer, Paul J. Foster.
The Global Esports Games will run from 17 – 19 December 2021 and will feature multi-title esports competitions, GEFcon, the GEF’s global convention of thought leaders, and GEFestival, the dynamic celebration of esports, youth culture and much more.
