Sky finds MatrixStore to support Avid Interplay
Sky has integrated MatrixStore from Object Matrix into Avid Interplay production workflows at its headquarters in London. With production infrastructure often used to capacity, the Sky production team looked to find a solution that could not only scale into future workflows but also take the strain off the editing storage with integration into current workflows.
“Capacity on the editing storage platforms is as a premium. Using that expensive tier of storage for medium or long term storage is not economical nor is it an efficient use of our resources.” stated Kevin McCue, Senior Manager of Technical Operations. “With an explosion in production activity we needed a storage partner we could rely on to help us scale in both capacity and performance whilst ensuring we can integrate more workflows in the future. Object Matrix scored highly on all counts”, he added.
MatrixStore brings benefit to any organisation that requires scalable, integrated storage in Avid Interplay workflows. Content can be protected using automated or manual processes in a non-disruptive environment to the end user.
“As more organisations look to protect more and more digital content the challenges to not only protect that content but also find, share and distribute it become greater.” stated Nick Pearce, co-founder Object Matrix. “We are proud to have been trusted by another of the worlds most renowned broadcasters to help them overcome those challenges by providing Sky with a completely integrated and non-disruptive solution.” he added.
The MatrixStore platform chosen by Sky consists of 280 terabytes nets of 10gigE connected nearline storage coupled with the popular InterConnect plugin for Avid Interplay. The solution provided to Sky is supported by Object Matrix partner Digital Garage.
