Sky wraps up first ‘hybrid’ virtual events for VIP customers

Sky VIP & Sky Production Services have wrapped up Sky’s first ‘hybrid’ virtual events, ‘An Evening with The Style Council’ and ‘An Evening at the Aston Martin Design Studio.’

Working in collaboration with Sky Sports, the all-new hybrid formula allowed selected Sky VIP customers to attend the live events onsite on location, as well as allowed a wider VIP audience to join in and interact from the comfort of their own homes, making sure they didn’t miss out on these exclusive experiences.

Produced using a combination of location production and Sky’s virtual production suite, the hybrid events were live-streamed through Wildmoka and featured full-spec audio-visual production & mixing from the venue, VTs played in from EVS on an onsite truck, and GFX/DA/TS produced on vMix.

Karen Swift, senior producer at Sky VIP, commented: “Another first for Sky, the brilliant technical and graphics teams at SPS were instrumental in delivering our hybrid event requirements under challenging social distancing restrictions. Their solution ensured that our customers, talent and staff were all safe, whilst at the same time helped bring our VIP customers even closer to the content they love, whether in physical attendance at the live events or interacting from their own homes.”

Ty Shariff, production manager at Sky Sports, added: “These two Sky VIP events are a depiction of what Sky defined itself to be over the past challenging months: a dynamic organisation with innovative employees forging new partnerships; drawing on trusted facilities from across the company while utilising new technologies which have allowed for high-quality, remote and location production.”
