Studio without Limits for Chukyo TV Broadcasting

Chukyo Television Broadcasting, one of Japan’s leading broadcasters, has purchased Media Links’ new IP ‘Studio without Limits’ solution, creating an integrated content over IP transport concept for its new facility. Chukyo TV Broadcasting is based in Nagoya, Japan’s third largest city, serving hundreds of thousands of households in Central Japan.

Its new facilities, including a full-service broadcast studio were completed in December 2015, equipment installation and preparations is currently underway, and broadcasting operations will commence in November 2016. Chukyo TV chose Media Links IP transport and switching solutions to create a network infrastructure for broadcast IP content delivery, connecting its studios with a high profile sports venue, the Nagoya Dome baseball stadium. The new system aims to help Chukyo TV receive and deliver more content from both external, remote sources as well as in-studio facilities, allowing close integration of content from ingest to playout, creating a ‘studio without limits.’ The Media Links solutions are scalable, which will ease the transition to 4K/8K as Chukyo TV moves towards that direction.

At the heart of Chukyo TV’s new IP system, is Media Link’s NetGazer Network Management System, which plays a critical role in monitoring and management of the complex network environment and its associated elements. CoolFire, Media Link’s new IP Gateway, enables broadcast formats whether 3G/HD/SD-SDI or 4K/8K to be transported as IP data streams. Also making up the system are MDX 4090 COTS-based IP Video Routers, which incorporate Media Links’ Media Rapid Flow protocol for high-speed switching. The resulting system will significantly reduce the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) vs. traditional or competing solutions.
