Sweden’s Berg handed key Eurosport tennis role

Discovery’s Eurosport has appointed the Swedish broadcaster and journalist Jonas Berg as its new executive producer for tennis.

Berg, who takes on the role from 1 January 2019, will assume responsibility for all of Eurosport’s tennis output including every Grand Slam tournament.

In his new job, Berg will also be tasked with developing Eurosport’s tennis production offering, including the Game, Schett and Mats show, with a view to “strengthening its position as the home of the greatest tennis events on the planet,” the broadcaster said.

Berg has worked as an investigative and sports journalist for over two decades.

As NENT head of sport programme manager he worked on the Champions League, English Premier League, Formula One and golf’s Majors.

He has also worked as a commentator at some of the sport’s major tournaments including Wimbledon and ATP Masters Series events.

Emir Osmanbegovic, SVP of sports content and production at Eurosport, said: “Jonas is an experienced operator, a natural leader and a strong storyteller who will take our tennis output to a whole new level. He is a real coup for the business and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Berg’s first assignment will be to oversee Eurosport’s broadcast of the Australian Open later this month.
