TV3 improves Avid MAM with Marquis Project Parking

TV3, Ireland’s leading free-to-air commercial television network, is using Marquis’ complete Avid storage management solution, Project Parking, to assist in the management of media on its Avid Interplay and ISIS storage. Project Parking identifies how space is used, removes unused and duplicate media, archives projects and moves projects with media to other storage or systems.

Projects can also be merged from other systems without media duplication. The solution also monitors how media storage is used, regularly reporting on usage, showing usage over time, plus archiving projects and executing analysis in the background.

Eoin Brennan, post production supervisor, TV3 Group explains: “We chose Marquis because Project Parking provided the best fit with our Interplay set up and it was developed especially for Avid environments. Previously it was necessary to move media through Interplay and access the database manually. Project Parking now saves us time as the process is automated. It means we can assign our valuable staff resources to other important tasks.

“The reporting function is particularly useful,” continues Brennan. “The statistics we get back from the system enables us to analyse space used on workstations through a realtime graphical representation. This analysis enables de-duplicating of material and this analysis can be set as a task to run in the background along with project archives which frees up not only time, but space too.”
