United acquires Quadia for greater video impact
Euro Media Group member United has taken over the corporate operations of video specialist Quadia. With this acquisition United is expanding its services portfolio in the commercial market.
United, based in Hilversum, is a full-service facilities company for video, TV and media productions. The company is responsible for the creation, management and distribution of a host of national and international media productions including Boer Zoekt Vrouw, Expeditie Robinson, premier league and the MTV Europe Music Awards. In addition, United creates video content for commercial customers (like McDonalds and the Dutch Ministry of Defence) and supplies solutions for video-on-demand providers like Liberty Global.
Since 2004 Quadia has had a strong foothold in the corporate video market. Among its customers are KLM, Randstad, ABN AMRO, Ahold Delhaize and Achmea. Quadia’s medical division, which focuses on providing information and continuing education to healthcare professionals, will go on independently.
“To me, this acquisition presents a huge opportunity for both organisations to complement and reinforce each other,” Nico Verspaget, Quadia’s director, explained. “Companies are increasingly using video for a variety of target groups, applications and purposes. This calls for an integrated approach to enhance the return on investment in technology; not least because messages including video have a greater impact.”
René Delwel, director of United said: “For a long time we have known Quadia to be a highly professional supplier of online video productions. United sees growth opportunities outside the broadcast industry and would like to accelerate. The co-operation between Quadia and United will jump us to a prominent position in the commercial market. This is also why Quadia will be our label for the commercial market. Moreover, Quadia offers services that could be of interest to our broadcast customers.”
