Vision Mixers Show to take place at BT Sport May 24

The sixth Vision Mixers Show will take place May at BT Sport Studios, Olympic Park Stratford East London. The one-day event brings together all seven of the main vision mixing manufacturers with the user community. It is free to attend for vision mixers, engineers, facility managers and other broadcast professionals (a £5 registration fee applies for non-members).

Blackmagic Design, EVS/DYVI, Grass Valley, NewTek, Ross Video, SAM and Sony will all show their latest HD and 4K switchers in one place. That means Blackmagic ATEM, EVS’ DYVI IP-based mixer, Grass Valley Kayenne and Karrera, NewTek TriCaster, Ross Video Acuity and Carbonite Black, SAM Kahuna, Kula and Maverik and Sony’s new XVS processor and panel.

According the the Vision Mixers Guild, the concept is simple: you have the people who operate and engineer vision mixing desks in studios and outside broadcast facilities (many of whom are freelance) coming together to meet the mixer specialists with a view to gaining more knowledge about the desks. Since most broadcast professionals are freelance, training and information on the latest mixer software updates don’t always filter down to the end-user.

Organiser Trevor Bailey says, “we are so lucky to have all the big players in the industry behind us. We have the support of BT Sport and Sky Sports, along with all the top vision mixing manufacturers. Its a great day out with all the manufacturers present to educate and demonstrate to the attending VMs and engineers. Its not about sales (like IBC and NAB) and everyone turns up on that basis. This year its about Quad HD and IP-based kit producing 4K pictures, which like any other new technology creates a need for educating the (mainly freelance) operators.”
