Vizrt, nablet announce new MXF plugin for Final Cut Pro X

Vizrt together with nablet GmbH, a specialist in automated content recognition and video codecs, announced a new MXF plugin for Final Cut Pro X. The plugin, to be demonstrated at IBC 2014 on the Vizrt booth (hall 7 booth A10) and nablet booth (hall 7 booth G05), allows both Apple Final Cut Pro X and 7 to playback MXF-files natively.

“Several broadcasters who are using Final Cut Pro with Viz One have requested MXF playback. Existing plugins on the market that offer MXF playback have not met our customers’ technical and commercial demands, so together with nablet we decided to build a plugin to address them, and enable the use of MXF inside Final Cut Pro X,”  said Petter Ole Jakobsen, CTO of Vizrt.

“Together with Vizrt we have developed a plugin that supports the most common standard file formats currently used in broadcast production and we will continue to add more features and formats support to it,” said Muzaffer Beygirci, CEO of nablet GmbH.

The first version of the nablet-Vizrt MXF plugin supports XDCAM IMX, XDCAM HD, MXF Op1-a DV, MXF Op1-a DVCPRO, MXF Op1-a DVCPRO HD, as well as, MXF Op1-a AVC-Intra 50 and 100. The plugin supports playback of growing files (edit during ingest) and also includes a built-in AES331m to PCM decoder.

“We have worked with nablet GmbH on several video-related projects and they are an excellent partner with deep insight into video codecs and wrappers,” added Jakobsen, while Muzaffer Beygirci concluded, “From the first project on, Vizrt has been a great partner with us, which allowed us to work at eye-level together.”
