W-Sport enters MENA region with du in the UAE
W-Sport, the channel dedicated to women’s sports, has officially launched its 24/7 linear channel with du, a telecom and digital services provider in the UAE.
This agreement significantly broadens the channel’s availability, marking its debut entry into the Middle East.
Kelly Butler, CEO at W-Sport, expressed enthusiasm about the new collaboration, stating: “This is another significant step in the journey and development of W-Sport. We are delighted to partner with du in the UAE and look forward to bringing their audience the very best female leagues, competitions, teams and athletes from around the world.”
W Sport will launch on channel number 547 as part of the English Pack, offering an expansive portfolio of women’s football content. Subscribers will gain access to up to ten live matches each week, featuring elite players and teams from prominent leagues worldwide. This includes England’s Women’s Super League (WSL), Germany’s Frauen- Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A Femminile, the United States USL Super League, and Sweden’s Damallsvenskan.
Additionally, W-sport audiences this summer will receive live coverage from the Super League Triathlon as well as selected live events in tennis, netball, field hockey and athletics.
In Europe, W-Sport is already accessible to audiences across multiple platforms. Viewers can find the channel in France on Free (channel 62); in Portugal on MEO (channel 29) and NOS (channel 36); in the Netherlands on KPN (channel 37); in Belgium on Telenet (channel 624), Proximus (channel 135) and Orange (channel 39); in Luxembourg on POST TV (channel 886); and in Turkey on SSportPlus, TiviBu and Turksat Kablo.
In Asia, W-Sport is accessible to viewers in Hong Kong on NOW TV (channel 635), in Malaysia on Astro (channel 815) and in Indonesia via IndieHome (channel 711) and DENS TV.
In Sub Saharan Africa, W-Sport is available in both English and French across more than 30 territories, including on Canal+ (channel 120 or channel 88).
W-Sport was founded by Setanta and Premier Sports co-founder and CEO, Michael O’Rourke, and the former SVP of Fox Sports and CEO of Setanta Africa, Kelly Butler. Together, they have operated sports channels across five continents and 80 countries.
