Whisper appoints Kaz Cranston as second head of production

Kaz Cranston has been appointed as second head of production at Whisper

Kaz Cranston has been promoted to head of production at Whisper, the live and unscripted sports production company, taking on a newly created role that will sit alongside the company’s current head of production Karen Knowles.

Due to the continuing growth of Whisper’s unscripted division, along with its investment in Moonshine Features, Whisper created the new head of production role to manage its increasing workload, with Cranston stepping up from production executive to take it.

Sunil Patel, chief executive officer at Whisper, commented: “It’s great to be creating this role and making this appointment. Kaz’s knowledge and experience across a wealth of genres absolutely fits who we are and where we are going and we’re really pleased she’s accepted this next step. We aim, as part of our growth, to nurture and develop talent from within and it’s great to see that in action.

“Sports and immersive sports broadcasting remain at our heart, yet we are also focused on other ambitions in unscripted and beyond and this new structure, with both Karen and Kaz, can help us to realise those.”

In recent years, Whisper has delivered programmes Inside Monaco to BBC Two, the critically acclaimed The Talk for Channel 4 and The Feud: Mourinho vs Pep for Channel 5, amongst a host others.

Current head of production, Knowles, will continue to look after all of Whisper’s sport-focused productions, including F1, NFL and The Paralympics, and more, while Cranston will manage Whisper’s growing unscripted slate, plus the productions of Whisper’s partners East Media and Moonshine Features.
