Whisper Cymru protects and shares Lions Tour footage using MatrixStore Cloud

Whisper Cymru selected MatrixStore Cloud and MatrixStore Vision from Object Matrix to support its coverage of the British and Irish Lions Tour.

Whisper Cymru, part of Whisper TV, wanted an efficient approach to protecting and managing rushes and finished content that also allowed for better collaboration between production teams and corporate partners. This was especially important during the British and Irish Lions Rugby Tour which was severely disrupted due to Covid-19 and eventually took place without fans.

Object Matrix’s MatrixStore Cloud is a secure, scalable and media-focused storage platform that enables production customers to focus on producing great content without wasting effort and resource on media management.

It was used alongside Object Matrix’s Vision, a web-based media and metadata management application, to manage and deliver content from South Africa in 2021. In a series first, Whisper was responsible for protecting the content from both the British and Irish Lions and the Springboks camps meaning the solution needed strict access control capabilities and built-in auditing in order to prove content was not accessed by unauthorised personnel.

During the tour, Whisper Cymru shot live, created and distributed fast turnaround social content, and delivered all partner and commercial activation, while contributing towards the final documentary series. MatrixStore enabled the team to seamlessly share content, ensuring it was kept secure and only available to authorised users.
