WorldCast to showcase SureStream for KVM at NAB 2022

New from WorldCast is SureStream for KVM, which it says ensures pixel-perfect transmission, latency-free video and flawless audio, even over imperfect IP networks.  It is based on SureStream technology, which has already been proven in thousands of broadcasting deployments worldwide and is now being extended into the mission-critical broadcast control room.  The company will showcase the new solution at NAB.

With a combination of redundant streaming technology, packet-forwarding and virtual trunking solutions, SureStream provides reliable Quality of Experience (QoE) for any content and any media over IP networks, at a low cost, with high resilience, security and simplified management and control.

Ken Kearney, R&D manager for APT & SureStream range at WorldCast Systems, said: “Media companies no longer need to deploy dedicated network infrastructure for remote KVM systems to ensure high performance. With SureStream the transmission is flawless, with latency-free video and audio delivery. They can send KVM, audio and serial signals to networked stations or video monitors at scale to wherever the IP network extends, without sacrificing QoE.”

The SureStream KVM solution elevates the user experience through two new capabilities. First, it combines all available network links into one single link. This virtual trunk (V-Trunk) technique optimises the available bandwidth. The second step involves packet loss protection. SureStream technology can guarantee virtually zero packet loss while utilising 50% of actual trunk bandwidth capacity.

Kearney added: “With IP-based systems, there is no limit to the number of endpoints that can be added to a KVM system; the only limitation is the bandwidth of the user-supplied network that supports the system. SureStream delivers peak bandwidth performance across IP networks with no packet loss, regardless of location, making the transition to IP-based systems and their inherent architectural flexibility and cost advantages more practical for broadcasters.”

SureStream is a redundant streaming solution that sends multiple streams from the same source to the same destination for enhanced reliability and resilience. It is media-agnostic and application-aware, meaning it addresses the packet-loss problem from both a networking perspective and an application perspective, allowing it to serve mission-critical KVM applications. Furthermore, SureStream also prioritises keyboard and mouse data for enhanced QoE.

The flexible licensing models for SureStream further increase the potential use cases. Enterprises can deploy into private clouds; OEMs can embed SureStream within new products and services; and broadcasters can cut capex by harnessing the new software-defined ‘as-a-service’.
