wTVision’s R³ Space Engine receives HDR Certification from Cromorama

wTVision’s R³ Space Engine and broadcast render engine have received HDR Certification from colour processing experts, Cromorama. According to wTVision, the certification is a testament to R³ Space Engine’s capability in precise HDR and SDR transformations, underscoring its commitment to delivering top-tier broadcast graphics technology.

The certification process involved rigorous benchmarking and a step-by-step analysis performed by Cromorama’s technical team alongside wTVision engineers. Tests included advanced LUT (Lookup Table) conversion for both HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) and SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) formats, ensuring adaptability across diverse broadcast standards. This certification is a key assurance for clients seeking optimal visual consistency and accurate colour fidelity, particularly in workflows where HDR graphics must be converted for SDR outputs and vice versa.

In the testing process, Cromorama configured a Da Vinci Resolve editing station in conjunction with an AJA ColorBox and a Leader LV 5600 picture analysis monitor, establishing a controlled environment to assess R³ Space Engine’s accuracy in applying complex LUT conversions, such as HLG to SDR using NBCU LUT3, and SDR to HLG conversions. Cromorama’s report confirmed that the R³ Space Engine meets HDR standards, with identical results in SDR-to-HLG transformations and HLG-to-SDR.

wTVision innovation and pre-sales director, Daniel Gonçalves, stated: “We are thrilled to receive Cromorama’s certification, highlighting wTVision’s dedication to excellence in broadcast graphics. With this HDR certification, the R³ Space Engine empowers our clients to deliver vivid and accurate visuals that elevate live broadcasts.”
