RT Software to speed up complex analysis graphics with new Tactic release

RT Software’s flagship sports analysis graphics product, Tactic, is to get a major update at the end of September 2020.

The company claims Tactic is second to none for features and usability for telestration in sports programming.  Proven live on-air by key broadcasters, the latest release brings a host of new features and improves product usability and control.

One of the more eye-catching new features is Keyframe Assist, which automatically detects players in the video and tracks their movement, something that was previously only possible by creating manual keyframes; a time-consuming process.

Luke Harrison, product manager for Tactic, commented: “This feature is so simple to use. With one button press, Tactic creates all the keyframes for every player in the video. To add a graphic that follows the player (a circle, trail or name tag for example) is as simple as dragging the graphic on to the player.  Easy and quick to use tools are selectable directly from the interface to correct artefacts introduced when players are obscured by other players.”

Live presenters can now control Tactic from an interface on a handheld tablet connected via WiFi.The presenter also has control of clips and can recall pre-saved analysis sequences no matter what the complexity, and they are en able to add graphics themselves, live on-air.

This release also adds some technical features to Tactic including several new video and audio codecs which are now supported so video clips can be exported in the best format for the target playout device. It is also now possible to pass-through or export background clip audio to create more engaging content.
