IBC 2019: Ncam launches new Mk2 camera bar

Ncam Technologies (stand 7.D36) announced an exciting new model of its award-winning camera bar – the Mk2. Ncam has partnered with the Intel RealSense group to create the completely redesigned bar which is smaller and lighter than its predecessor. The Mk2 features Intel RealSense technology that has been adapted and integrated by Ncam to meet the requirements of the media and entertainment industry, while the latest Ncam Reality software runs on standard HP workstations that provide processing power with easily accessible global support.

Nic Hatch, CEO, Ncam, said, “Ncam’s core strengths lie within software research and development, with a focus on developing innovative approaches and solutions for AR utilising both computer vision and computer graphics techniques. In order to offer our customers comprehensive industry-leading solutions, it makes perfect sense to partner with industry-leading hardware suppliers. The combination of Ncam’s software and industry knowledge, Intel RealSense technology and HP’s trusted workstations enable us to manufacture smaller, lighter, more robust and more powerful products like the Mk2 as we continue to develop the most accurate and flexible camera tracking products available, not only for today but also for tomorrow’s products.”

“Intel RealSense technology is used to build products that enrich people’s lives through devices and machines that perceive the world in 3D. We are excited to partner with Ncam for its growing range of AR solutions,” said Joel Hagberg, Head of Product Management and Marketing, Intel RealSense Group.

The Mk2 camera bar is a newly designed bar that mounts freely on any camera, and is based on Intel RealSense technology to capture spatial data that then feeds back to the Ncam Reality server. The weight reduction of the Mk2 camera bar will be welcome for handheld and stabilised rigs, while the compact size will allow for easier, better balanced rigging and more flexible mounting options.

All existing Ncam customers will have an upgrade path to the Mk2 camera bar, which is scheduled for release in Q1 2020.
