Executive Producer and Director
John Watts is an experienced multi camera live sports director with a BAFTA award and 10 nominations, plus four RTS awards and a Royal Television Society Fellowship.
He also holds extensive football credits include six FA Cup finals, five League Cup Finals, and over 20 years of UEFA Champions League coverage including the Finals in 2002, 2003 and 4K coverage of the final in 2016.
He has host directed the FIFA World Cup tournaments in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and The European Championships in 1996, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Connected to these events, he has directed the opening ceremonies of the Euros in 2008, 2012 and 2016, and the Closing Ceremony in Brazil in 2014.
In Rugby, he host directed four Rugby World Cup Tournaments and directed three finals in 1991. 1999 and 2015. Additionally, he directed the opening ceremonies in 1991 and 2015.
On a non-sporting front, he has directed a number of British royal occasions including the funerals of Diana Princess of Wales and the Queen Mother, the marriages of Prince Andrew and Prince William, plus the Queen’s Jubilee Celebration and two Royal Film Premieres.
