Please make sure you review the below rules and eligibility for the best chance of success.
Entries
- Nominations for the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards 2022 must be submitted via the official entry form.
- Nominations must reach SVG Europe by 23:59 on Tuesday 14 June 2022*. In the event of an extension to the deadline, a new date will be issued.
- Entries can be made by any member of the supply chain involved in a project, from the broadcaster or rights owner downwards, including technical partners, or by a company’s PR agency, provided that all parties are happy for the project to be submitted.
- Please be clear in your entry about who the ‘client’ is, how technical partners and users collaborated and how and why the project was successful.
Judging
- Your entry will be judged on the information you provide on the entry form, so make sure this is complete and compelling. You should describe the challenges faced and the solutions deployed. The judges may ask for further clarification, but, in general, they will form their opinion on what they read on the entry form.
- Please do not use brochure copy, press releases or other marketing-speak or materials in your entry: the judges need to know how the team collaborated to solve this specific challenge and how successfully the project met the challenge. Remember this is your chance to excite the judges, so make sure you tell the full story.
- To supplement your entry you may want to supply images or videos that show the project and its effectiveness. These can be submitted online along with your entry. Only submit videos or images that add to your explanation of the project: again, generic marketing material will not increase your chances of success. Remember, too, that the video and imagery are supplementary – the judges use the written documents as the main source material.
- For the Production and OTT categories, the judges would like to see a clip (or clips) from the broadcast that best captures the production achievement or achievements. Please only submit a clip (or clips) of up to 15 minutes, cumulatively. If you submit more than this, please be aware that the judges will only watch the first 15 minutes. Highlights or sizzle reels will only be accepted if they show the achievement or achievements clearly and obviously.
- For OTT or Audio, if you would like to provide the judges with temporary access to the service, feature or app so that they can see or hear the experience first hand, please make that clear in your submission and provide all appropriate links and log-in details.
- For the One Planet Sustainability and SVG Europe Women Diversity awards, while the judges welcome entries which are cumulative in their success and have been developed or implemented over an extended period, perhaps even years, the pace of change in our industry means that projects, programmes and initiatives that which went live more than a year or so ago are unlikely to make the shortlist. If the success has been recent, please make that clear in your submission.
- The shortlist and winners of the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards 2022 will be chosen by a judging panel made-up of SVG editorial and independent industry figures, under the guidance of SVG Europe. A complete list of this year’s judges will be published on this website.
- Please do not contact any member of the judging panel directly, at any stage of the judging process. Any inappropriate contact may lead to disqualification from the awards, both this year and in the future.
- The decisions of the judges are final.
Shortlisting
- After the initial judging process, a shortlist of entries in each category will be announced. You will be contacted personally if you have made the shortlist. We aim to make a public announcement before the end of July 2022.
- If your entry is on the shortlist you will receive support from SVG Europe to help you maximise the publicity benefits. At the same time, SVG Europe may ask you to aid its own publicity, especially through social media, in the run-up to the event.
Presentation of awards
- SVG Europe Sports TV Awards will be presented to the ‘client’ or ‘end-user’, ie the person or company that ultimately controls and owns the production, event, project, initiative, innovation or programme. If you are entering as a supplier or service provider, it is important that you discuss your nomination with those parties before submitting the entry, and can ensure, if you are shortlisted, that representatives of the end-user will be at the ceremony to collect the award. Entries without the active cooperation of the client or end-user will not be considered.
If you have any questions about the awards and how they are judged, please email [email protected] or [email protected].
*Unless a deadline extension is announced.
