Grass Valley, Cisco Offer Live Demo of Remote IP Workflow
Grass Valley (Booth SL206), a Belden Brand, and Cisco (Booth N802) are collaborating on a live demonstration of Grass Valley’s remote IP production workflow, leveraging SMPTE 2022-6.
The demonstration illustrates an interoperable workflow, from Cisco’s booth to Grass Valley’s live-production booth, managed by Grass Valley’s new GV Convergent SDN (software-defined network) solution. This workflow shows broadcasters how scalable, programmable, and advanced IP technologies can be deployed for live production with minimal delay and no dropped packets and also demonstrates the growing interoperability between suppliers.

From the Cisco booth, the new Grass Valley LDX 86 WorldCam camera with XCU HD/4K XF IP base station will send a 3G SMPTE 2022-6 signal through two Cisco switches across a 10 GigE link between the North and South Halls. Grass Valley’s Nvision 8500 IP Gateway router and Kaleido multiviewer will also be at the Cisco booth with access to sources, including cameras, at the Grass Valley booth. Multiple Cisco Nexus 7000 and 3000 Series switches will be leveraged in the Grass Valley booth, both live in the engine room and in the theater area.

Meyer and Kathail will also conduct a joint presentation titled “Deterministic IP Networks for Live Video Production and Next-Generation Broadcast Video with IP” at 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in the Connected World Theater.
