L-S-B Broadcast Technologies To Show VSM System, Seamless IP-Video-Stream Switching
For the first time L-S-B will show VSM release 14.2 at a trade show to an international audience. The new release offers improved functionalities for live broadcasting. This new feature- set includes efficient labelling functions, audio shuffle and breakaway possibilities as well as the possibility for de-centralized workflows and system management that simplify configuration, workflows and operation in daily business. The goal of these efforts is to reduce configuration and preparation time in every broadcast environment – a major cost saving enabler.
VSM Control in an IP Environment
A special section of L-S-B’s presence at NAB will focus on the control of different hardware in an IP environment. In contrast to other manufacturers that offer proprietary, secluded solutions VSM sticks to its philosophy of being manufacturer independent and with the goal to control IP infrastructure from all the major manufacturers.
As an example what VSM is already capable of in the IP world, the company will show the control of various hardware units, running in an IP network that are connected via network switches.
Starting business in the U.S. just two years ago, L-S-B and its VSM system can draw on an impressive customer base in the United States. Complex installations for major broadcasters like FOX, NPR and NBC or a large number of installations in NEPs fleet of mobile trucks prove the flexibility and reliability of the VSM system and the confidence the customers put in the product. VSM offers its users ease of mind even in mission critical environments, workflow flexibility and reliability – day after day.
Seamless Switching of IP Video Streams
L-S-B will also show the switching of video streams using two independent setups.
One setup demonstrates VSM’s capabilities in a layout using video hardware from Lawo (two V__link4 devices for input sources, one V__link4 for outputs) and an Arista switch. The setup demonstrates SDN controlled source timed switching of IP video source streams to multiple destinations, intuitively controlled by the well-known, familiar user interfaces of VSM.
The second setup focusses on the control of Sony’s AV over IP Interface through VSM. Talking directly to Sony’s “System Manager”, VSM makes the migration from baseband to IP networks seamless and intangible for the operator.
Controlling two independent hardware setups, VSM underlines its philosophy to be the leading hardware independent broadcast control and monitoring system. In contrast to other manufacturers offering proprietary, secluded IP-solutions, VSM clearly gives broadcasters the freedom to choose their individual IP infrastructure solution, seamlessly controlled via L- S-B’s extremely powerful and versatile broadcast control system.
